Diana Vickers Give Out Girls

Diana Vickers has bagged her first telly acting gig - in a new comedy about a group of promotions girls.

The X Factor semi-finalist, nicknamed The Claw for her hand gestures on the ITV show in 2008, will star in Give Out Girls later this year on Sky Living.

Singer Diana - who has dated 2008 X Factor finalist Eoghan Quigg - has been making a push into acting since coming fourth on the show and bagging a No1 single in 2010 with Once.

She starred in a West End production of The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice in late 2009 and won the award for London Newcomer Of The Year at the Theatregoers’ Choice Awards. But this will be her first television role.

She will star alongside Kerry Howard, of BBC3 sitcom Him & Her, and former EastEnders actress Tracy-Ann Oberman in the six-part series about a group of four girls who have to promote various products.

Diana told TV Biz: “I’m so excited about doing my first comedy show.

“It’s different from any acting I’ve done before.

“The script is hilarious - I was laughing my head off just reading it. The rest of the cast are great, we all have really good chemistry.

“I can’t wait to get in front of the camera and start filming.”

Mel Ready To Nic Seat On X Factor Panel

X Factor bosses are lining up Spice Girl Mel B to replace Nicole Scherzinger if the US star bails.

The former Pussycat Doll has still not agreed to join the new series, although she held talks with producers last week.

She is the only judge earmarked for the new-look panel not to have committed so far - with Sharon Osbourne, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh all expected to sign on the dotted line.

Nicole has reportedly been offered £1million to join the ITV show, but doesn’t know whether she can commit herself because she has a new album to promote in November.

Last night a source close to Nicole said she did intend to sign up for the show - when she had hammered out a deal.

But bosses don’t want a repeat of last year when Dannii Minogue pulled out at the last minute, forcing them to draft in guest judges.

Mel has been brought back into the frame after her schedule was freed up following her withdrawal from Australia’s Got Talent.

An insider said: “Nicole is causing some worry. Bosses want her after her success last year, but she doesn’t know if she can give all her energy to the show.

“Producers don’t want to be left in the lurch like last year so Mel is being lined up in case talks fail.”

Laura Whitmore Wants To Return To I’m A Celeb Spin Off

Laura Whitmore wants to host another series of jungle spin-off I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! NOW! - and says she would love to see Gazza in the camp.

The Irish beauty - who has fronted the ITV2 show for two years - has not yet had the go-ahead for a third series, but says that things are “looking good”.

And she insisted she is not in the running to take over from departing Xtra Factor host Olly Murs, because she isn’t ready to turn her back on the jungle show.

Laura told TV Biz: “I miss Australia - the last series of I’m A Celebrity was brilliant. I definitely want to go back this year and things are looking good at the moment.

“I saw Ant and Dec and the producers recently, and we were all reminiscing. Because you see the same people all the time out there it becomes like a family.”

She has a few ideas of who she would like to see taking part in the show, too.

“I’ve heard a few times that Gazza could be on the show so maybe he will,” she said. “That will definitely get column inches, as I’m sure he’ll be pretty controversial. I don’t know how nice he’ll be or how good at challenges, but I’d like to see him in there.”

MTV Europe star Laura took up the Australian gig after previous host Caroline Flack left the jungle behind to join ITV2 spin-off The Xtra Factor in 2011.

But she insists she has no intention of following in her predecessor’s footsteps now that Caroline’s co-host Olly Murs has quit to focus on his music.

She said: “I get asked about X Factor quite a lot, but I just want to get back to Australia at the moment - I don’t think I’m ready to give that up just yet.”

She went on: “I saw Olly this week and I told him I’ll be sad to see him leave, but he feels his music is doing so well that he can’t [stay]. As far as I know Caroline is doing it again, which is good because she’s brilliant at it.”

Laura, who was linked to Niall Horan earlier this year, also opened up about her friendship with the 1D singer. She said: “The One Direction boys are never in one place long enough to party. I know Niall because he’s a friend of a friend from my hometown, and when he’s in town he likes a bit of normality so he hangs out with the Irish crew.

“We’re not going out - I knocked that rumour on the head straight away - but you can see how quickly things build up.”

Laura also hosted the Brits ITV2 coverage this year. She said: “That was a really big night. I was hosting with Rizzle Kicks - who I love to bits - and we had that backstage crazy carnage going on.

“At one point at the Universal after party I was in the DJ booth with Mumford and Sons, Taylor Swift, Carey Mulligan and James Cordon. That was fun.”

However, Laura said her party girl tag is off the mark - because she recently quit booze to focus on work.

She said: “Most of the events I’ve been pictured at have been for work, and I wasn’t even drinking.

“I had to give up alcohol recently because I was working too hard. My job has to come first. Especially during Fashion Week, you could go to these things and drink to your heart’s content, but you wouldn’t be able to get up the next day.”

She added: “That said, I had Paddy’s Day in New York and that was another thing. It’s about balance.”

Right now, Laura is supporting the Tag Your Bag initiative, which allows people to earn Nectar points when they donate clothes to Oxfam. She said: “It’s a great idea - it’s simple and gives people a real incentive.”

Frankie Cocozza Left Shop Without Paying For Alcohol

Cops were yesterday probing supermarket CCTV of Frankie Cocozza using a self-service checkout - after the bad boy X Factor reject left with booze that was not paid for.

The singer - booted off the ITV1 show two years ago for taking cocaine - was said by a source to have repeatedly keyed in his card’s PIN code but the transaction never went through.

Store chiefs in Brighton called in police, who yesterday confirmed they were investigating whether the failure to pay for a “small number of items” was “a genuine error or a shoplifting incident”.

The source - who said Cocozza shops there “all the time” - revealed: “The footage shows he has entered his PIN a number of times.

“It is unclear whether he thinks the transaction has finished or whether it is deliberate. He’s walked away and the transaction is incomplete.

“There’s no way of knowing whether it was shoplifting or a genuine error.”

Cocozza, 20, who has appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, was yesterday said by his agent to deny any involvement in the alleged incident.

Chris Maloney: ‘My Scouse spirit has seen me through!’

Chris Maloney: ‘My Scouse spirit has seen me through!’

Chris Maloney: ‘My Scouse spirit has seen me through!’He’s the king of 80s power ballads and a connoisseur of cheese. Who the bejeezus are we babbling on about? Why, Chris Maloney, (obvs!).

The lovely Liverpudlian hasn’t had the easiest of rides these past few weeks. There have been accusations of divadom and reports that he’s been squabbling behind-the-scenes with his fellow-Finalists.

Earlier, we cornered the crooner to get the skinny on why he thinks the Judges are possibly being tactical towards him and what he really makes of Rylan.

How are you feeling?
I’m philosophical about it all. What will be, will be. At the end of the day, I’ve tried my best. I’m delighted to still be in the competition and I’m working my socks off. I’m very grateful to everyone that keeps voting. I wish I could thank each and every one of them individually.

The Judges gave you some positive feedback on Saturday…
It was weird. Though, I do wonder if they are being tactical. Maybe the Judges thought: ‘Ah, if we keep on being mean to Chris, maybe people will keep on feeling sorry for him and voting him in.’

Whose comments surprised you the most?
Tulisa’s comments meant a lot. She acknowledged that I’m good at my genre of music. Admittedly, she wouldn’t buy an album of mine. I’m just pleased that she recognised that I can actually sing.

How did you feel about Gary telling James Arthur that he’d love for him to win?
Gary said that if I wasn’t in the Final, he’d want James to win. He didn’t say that he didn’t want me to win. Gary’s very supportive and has been there for me every step of the way.

How did you feel about Rylan and Gary’s little spat?
Rylan’s always full of funny one-liners! I didn’t feel the need to step in or have a word in Rylan’s ear. Gary can handle himself. If anything, it’s the other way round. I need Gary to fight my battles!

C’mon. Are you REALLY a diva?
My Scouse spirit has seen me through. It’s like water of a duck’s back. I’m no diva! I wouldn’t run around after my Nan if I was precious or had ideas above my station.

Any celebs out there you’re dying to meet?
I would love to duet with Bette Midler if I made it to the Final. I would quite literally combust with happiness if that happened!

If you had to liken the Judges to specific cheeses, who would be what?
Gary would be a cheese slice – everybody loves them. Louis would be a mouldy, stale cheese. Nicole would be a lovely brie cheese.  And Tulisa would be a blue cheese because you either love it or hate it.
